Why we're always at the top of the "Best of" lists

Welcome to Fort Collins, one of the most livable cities in the U.S.! I'm happy to have this opportunity to welcome you to our city. Fort Collins is known as the Choice City in Colorado, and attractions abound, offering visitors almost unending options to choose their own adventure.

First, there's the multitude of choices of things to do and see:

  • catch a first-class performance in one of our many theatres
  • explore history in our remarkable Old Town
  • tour a local brewery (beer in Fort Collins is beyond compare!)
  • ride a restored trolley car
  • take in a museum
  • attend one of our many festivals and celebrations

Then there are the amazing choices for sports and recreation:
  • play a round of golf all year long
  • take your family on a kayaking and biking vacation
  • raft some whitewater or go fly fishing on the Cache la Poudre river
  • hike a canyon
  • ride a horse along miles of trails through city and state parks
  • soar in a hot air balloon
  • cheer on the CSU teams
When it comes to dining and entertainment, the choices go on and on: cuisine from traditional to novel, fast-food to fine dining, symphony concerts to ballroom dancing, opera to salsa, and local bands you may soon see on national tour.

Fort Collins is also the perfect choice as a home base for day trips throughout Northern Colorado, and attractions include Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Pawnee National Grasslands, and more. Choose from our range of accommodations and set off for adventure.

Finally, it's the city of choice for 130,000 residents who are proud to call Fort Collins home. We're students, families, professionals, retirees, and everyone in between, sharing a love for our hometown and a friendly, casual attitude.

We're glad to see you.

Friends of Fort Collins, welcome to one of America's best kept secrets. But the word is getting out. Fort Collins is receiving national recognition as one of the most livable cities in the U.S., and for good reason.

Named by Outside magazine as one of "America's Dream Towns", Fort Collins has as wide a variety of outdoor pursuits as any city in the country, and the weather to keep us active year round. And we are a progressive city as well. You can feel good about visiting Fort Collins, as the Sierra Club named us one of four Sustainable Cities for our Best Practices for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.

You can even purchase a locally brewed beer that was crafted using wind power. Fort Collins is the home of six breweries, representing the finest in craft brewing, and is the beer capital of Colorado.

While you're here, take a plunge on Colorado's only National Wild and Scenic River, the Cache la Poudre, one of the best whitewater rafting and trout fishing streams in Colorado, just minutes from town. Or spend a morning in a hot-air balloon as you view the majestic Rocky Mountains in quiet splendor.

Our rich history is visible throughout the city, as Fort Collins is nationally recognized as a Preserve America city. We are rich in the arts, recognized for our cutting-edge theatre and music programs.

Enjoy Fort Collins and its many attractions. Once you've discovered us, we know we'll see you again.
